There is no template nose. Every face, every nasal structure and every goal calls for a different plan.

Beauty should not cost you function. The goal is balance between the outer shape and the internal support of the nose.

Aesthetics and function

Two goals addressed in the same operation.

As an ENT surgeon, the assessment always includes the airway: the outer shape is designed over an internal structure that has to keep working.

01

Aesthetic rhinoplasty

Seeks harmony between the nose and the rest of the face, respecting each patient's own features.

  • Bulbous tip.
  • Visible deviation of the nose.
  • Lack of balance with the rest of the face.

02

Functional rhinoplasty

Corrects what restricts airflow and affects rest and quality of life.

  • Nasal obstruction.
  • Deviated septum.
  • Persistent nasal congestion.
  • Related breathing problems.

The surgeon's approach

Shaping the outside without weakening the structure.

“My focus is on a natural result. I do not make template noses: I design a nose that fits each patient's features. As an ENT surgeon, I restructure and rebuild the supports of the nose so that its breathing function is not compromised.”

The technique is chosen case by case. A hybrid rhinoplasty technique is generally used, focused on restructuring the nose while preserving or rebuilding the natural supports that prevent poor nasal function.

Every surgical plan is defined after an in-person assessment. Results depend on anatomy, skin thickness and each patient's individual healing.

First consultation

What happens at your first visit.

A full assessment before surgery is even discussed: examination, goals, clinical photography and an indicative projection.

STEP 01

Examination of the nose

External and internal review of the nose to understand both its shape and how it works.

STEP 02

Structural assessment

Skin type, deviations, nasal function and facial asymmetry.

STEP 03

Aesthetic goals

A conversation about the changes you want and what is realistic in your case.

STEP 04

Clinical photography

Photographs of the whole face from several angles, so the nose is analysed together with the other facial structures.

STEP 05

Indicative projection

A projection of the likely results. A projection is not a guarantee of outcome.

Step by step

From the first message to the one-year follow-up.

An orderly, predictable path, with scheduled reviews throughout the first year.

01
Before

Initial assessment

Physical examination and clinical photographs to discuss goals and project the desired result.

02
Before

Tests indicated by the doctor

Laboratory work and a nasal CT scan when the case requires them.

03
Before

Second review and scheduling

Results are reviewed together and the surgery date is set.

04
Surgery

Performed under general anaesthesia

In hospital, with an anaesthesiologist and full surgical team. General anaesthesia means you are not conscious and your breathing is monitored by the anaesthesiologist throughout.

05
After

First review: day three to five

Removal of the splint, stitches and nasal crusting, and reapplication of the dressing.

06
After

First month: weekly cleaning

Dressing change and cleaning of nasal crusting every week during the first month.

07
Follow-up

Reviews at three, six and twelve months

Scheduled appointments to assess healing and the result.

Recovery and follow-up

Indicative timings, subject to medical assessment.

Every recovery is different. These timings are a general reference that is adjusted to medical advice and to how each patient heals.

Initial rest

About one week, as advised by the doctor. Bed rest all day is not required: light activity at home is fine, avoiding strain and sun exposure.

Office work

Return is usually possible after about one week.

Light physical work

Up to two weeks away from work.

Heavy physical work

Around three weeks.

Exercise and sport

Generally from the third week onwards, once the doctor confirms it.

Final result

Depends on skin thickness: about six months with thin skin and more than twelve months with thick skin.

Care during the first month

  • Sleep semi-upright during the first week.
  • Keep the nasal dressing dry.
  • Follow the prescribed medication exactly.
  • Avoid strain and sun exposure.

Safety and facilities

Hospital surgery, with a complete team.

  • Operating rooms that meet the safety and hygiene requirements of the health system.
  • General anaesthesia administered and monitored by an anaesthesiologist.
  • Full hospital team throughout the procedure.
  • Close follow-up during the first postoperative month.

It begins with an initial consultation, including a physical examination and clinical photographs to discuss and project the desired result. Laboratory work and a nasal CT scan follow, which are reviewed at a second appointment where the surgery date is also set.

Anti-inflammatory medication should be avoided for two weeks before surgery. Smoking and vaping should be avoided from one month before until one month after the procedure.

About one month. The splint is removed between the third and fifth day, and a micropore dressing is then reapplied every week.

Light to moderate rest at home for the first five days, according to your tolerance. Light activity is fine; staying in bed all day is not necessary. Strain and sun exposure should be avoided.

You can eat normally, avoiding spicy food. Sleep semi-upright during the first week. Keep the nasal dressing dry: shower from the neck down, have your hair washed salon-style, and clean your face with a small towel. Follow the prescribed medication exactly.

It is generally not a painful operation, although it depends on each person's pain tolerance. It is mildly uncomfortable during the first days because swelling makes it harder to breathe. Medication and nasal rinses help reduce that discomfort.

It depends on the thickness of the nasal skin: about six months with thin skin and more than twelve months with very thick skin. Swelling continues to settle gradually during that time.

When a structural problem restricts airflow — such as a deviated septum or enlarged turbinates — it can be corrected during the same operation. Whether your breathing can be improved, and to what extent, is determined during the assessment, after the examination and any tests the doctor indicates.

Some patients need a revision, if necessary, once the time needed for the swelling to settle has passed. This is assessed during the follow-up appointments.
